Danielle Nlate Kamgaing, MSc student
Danielle Nlate Kamgaing is a young scientist with a solid academic background in biochemistry and clinical microbiology. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Douala in 2023, followed by advanced training in Clinical Biology, with a specialization in Bacteriology and Virology, at the School of Health Sciences, Catholic University of Central Africa (ESS-UCAC).
She is currently completing a Master’s degree at the Immunology and Helminth Infections Unit (IBHI) of the Laboratory of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, where she is co-supervised by Dr. Justin Nono and Dr. Martin Oyono. Within the laboratory, Danielle is a member of the Metagenomics Team, which is led by Dr. Martin Oyono.
Through her training, she is acquiring foundational knowledge and practical skills in metagenomics and microbial data analysis, particularly as they relate to infectious diseases and host-microbiome interactions. As she progresses in her academic and research career, she aims to deepen her expertise in metagenomics and expand her capacity to apply high-throughput and computational approaches to biomedical research.
Danielle’s long-term ambition is to pursue a research-oriented career focused on innovative diagnostic and analytical strategies for infectious diseases, with a strong interest in translational approaches that can improve disease surveillance and public health outcomes in endemic settings.
