
Alactio Tangueu Vanessa Ornella is a Research associate at the Institute of Medical Research and Medicinal Plant Studies (IMPM), Ministry of Scientific Research and Innovation (MINRESI), Yaoundé, Cameroon. Alactio holds a master degree in Medical Biology, specializing in Microbiology, from the Université des Montagnes, Cameroon. Alactio is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Buea, Cameroon, focusing on antimicrobial resistance and metagenomics.
In her role at IMPM, Vanessa is responsible for leading research on priority pathologies, with a particular focus on schistosomiasis and the challenges it poses in the region. Her work aims to understand the mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance in microbial communities and to investigate the role of microbiomes in health and disease.
Vanessa has made significant contributions to the field, with two publications in 2024 on antimicrobial resistance and hospital environments. She is also an active member of the Cameroon Society of Microbiology, where she participated in the International Microbiology Day conference in December 2024.
In her personal life, Vanessa enjoys reading and swimming, which provide a balance to her intense academic and research pursuits.
