The IBHI-Lab and the Laboratory of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at JERSIC 2025

The Institute of Medical Research and Medicinal Plant Studies (IMPM), through its IBHI-Lab and the Laboratory of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (LBMB), proudly participated in the 9th edition of the “Journées d’Excellence de la Recherche Scientifique et de l’Innovation au Cameroun” (JERSIC), held from 14 to 18 July 2025 in Yaoundé.
This flagship national event, instituted in 2007 by Dr. Madeleine TCHUINTE, Minister of Scientific Research and Innovation (MINRESI), and placed under the Very High Patronage of H.E. Paul BIYA, President of the Republic of Cameroon, celebrated outstanding scientific achievements across disciplines. This 2025 edition was held under the theme “From Scientific Research to Endogenous Industrialization for the Structural Transformation of Cameroon’s Economy.” A timely theme that highlights the country’s drive to harness local research outputs for sustainable development and industrial self-reliance.
Through our participation, the IBHI-Lab and LBMB, under the Center of Research on Health and Major Diseases of IMPM, showcased cutting-edge projects bridging basic research, immunology, and molecular biology innovations aimed at tackling endemic diseases and valorizing local resources.
The event also provided a platform for networking, collaboration, and visibility of the laboratory research initiatives. It reinforced IMPM’s role as a national hub for translational research and its commitment to contributing solutions to Cameroon’s public health and industrialization goals.
We extend our gratitude to MINRESI and all stakeholders for organizing this remarkable edition of JERSIC, and we reaffirm our commitment to advancing science for the benefit of the Cameroonian population.
