Mastering PCR Primer Design: A Hands-On Training Session at IMPM

On Friday, April 26th, 2024, the IMPM conference hall hosted a practical training session on PCR primer design, led by Dr. Emmanuel KAGNING TSINDA, a Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)-based Cameroonian scientist focused on viral genome sequencing and pharmaceutical quality control. The session drew researchers from the Laboratory of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology and the Immunobiology of Helminth Infections (IBHI) unit. Dr. KAGNING TSINDA’s presentation covered everything from PCR basics to advanced primer design, emphasizing the importance of well-designed primers and showcasing bioinformatics tools. After the presentation, participants engaged in a hands-on workshop, gaining practical experience and personalized feedback. The event highlighted the critical role of primer design in molecular biology and the value of practical training for research advancement. Participants left with enhanced skills and knowledge in primer design.
